February 2011 Later, Where Are They?

There were news last year of exciting product releases and updates to expect on January 2011. February 2011 comes in and now it's time to check out who delivered and who didn't...

Acer Iconia. This is a touchbook. It was first announced last November 23, 2010. It was planned to be released in the US on December 2010 or January 2011, the latest; to go on sale in Europe sooner. It is now February 2011 but there's still no official pricing of this beautiful product anywhere.

Windows Phone. Microsoft promised an update to their mobile OS on January 2011. It is suppose to include copy-paste and a lot more. Although Microsoft originally planned to push Windows Phone 7 updates directly to customers like Apple could with the iPhone, there were news that Windows Phone updates can be blocked by carriers as they traditionally could with other phones. February 2011 comes in and the updates are still not available to customers.

NOOKColor. Barnes&Noble's e-reader is an Android tablet in disguise -- Android 2.1 to be exact. Initial rumors had it that NOOKColor would be updated to use Android 2.2 (Froyo) on January 2011. That story was officially clarified to say Q1 of 2011 instead. Hacked to run Android 2.2 and Android 3.0 soon after... January 2011 ended still with no official NOOKColor on Froyo from B&N. The official statement was Q1 anyway so I suppose non-hacking customers could wait a couple of months more.

Well, apparently, I have a short list and all of them were not delivered... yet. Leave a comment if you have more in your list.
