Exciting Electric Vehicles

Image
Electric vehicles are here! They come as full plug-in electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid . As more and more companies and governments get interested in the viability of electric powered vehicles, the infrastructure won't be far away to being 100% ready worldwide.

Let's Talk About Online Social Networking

Image
The first online social networking that I tried was sixdegrees.com . That was over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, it was too far ahead of its time. The Internet then was more focused in proprietary content, e-commerce and everything related to making money so a social networking at that time was not seen with much potential.

Electronic Book Readers in Libraries

Image
An electronic book reader (e-reader ) allows you to store a number of books you can carry around with you and read in your own convenience, at home or on the go. The beauty of the technology is that 10, 15 or even hundreds of books can be easily carried in one thin, lightweight device. Now think about a library where you can borrow an e-reader or where you can bring your own to borrow books. If such a library exists, it can be available as an online service and you can also drop by for a real "visit to the library" experience. The library itself doesn't need a big building really. All they really need are some tables for those who want to read their e-books in the comfort of a library-like environment.

Why Intel Can Build a Secure OS

Image
I few recent blogs ago, I wrote about Why Intel Should Build an OS . Recent news shows Intel acquired security software company McAfee . Now we're seeing security built-in to "Intel inside" devices ! However, let's imagine further if Intel integrates their new found security in to their processors and/or chips with built-in OS. Are you seeing it? A computer device that has a built-in secured OS! Standard in all your brand new "Intel inside" computer devices! It is as brilliant as it is exciting, isn't it?

Tablets, Slates and You

Image
The computer has grown from replacing the typewriter into a productivity, entertainment and information powerhouse. Somehow, it is natural for the keyboard to be considered standard to come with a computer. Even when cellphones grew to becoming computer-like, it is almost expected for the keyboard (or QWERTY keypad) to find its way into those little devices. If we are so used to the idea that a computer should have a keyboard, how long would it take for the market to fully adopt a keyboard-less computer? Although touch screen devices are popular nowadays, the tablet and slate (and pad ) form factor of the computer is still suffering a slow adoption from customers. Besides being more expensive -- which I think should change -- it is almost unimaginable for most people to use a keyboard-less computer. It's possible, but most people believe it's impossible to live without. The tablet/slate/pad is perhaps the coolest form factor for a computer. It is mobile, flat and simple.

Why Intel Should Build an OS

Image
An OS is basically the software you need to start a computer or any electronic device. At it's core, an OS doesn't really need a flashy UI and a host of applications at once. If you think about it, DOS was not a successful OS for nothing. It was basically what an OS is good enough for.

Why 3D TVs?

Image
Since the TV was commercialized in the 1930s, it had always been in 2D: from black&white to colored, from CRT to flats, from mono to stereo to surround sounds, and now, some 80 years later, we have 3D TV s commercialized. If you think about it, 20 years down the road, 3D TVs could be just as ordinary as 2D was in the previous century.

What iPhone Started with the Touchscreen

Image
When iPhone was first launched in 2007, mobile phone manufacturers were already experimenting on various form factors including touch screens. The iPhone was not the first touchscreen phone. There had been many models from different manufacturers worldwide already offering touchscreen units. However, it was when Apple launched the iPhone that the touchscreen form factor truly kicked-off.

Technology As I See It

The 21st century is bringing to us brand new generations of technologies and services that can truly quickly change the way we live our lives: how we connect and communicate; how we choose and decide; how we make a living; and even how we make other people's lives better. It is undeniable that we are living a generation when technology could truly impact everyone's lives, young and old alike, sometimes in unimaginable little ways but most of the time in the grandest manner that could surprise us in so many unpredictable levels. This blog is dedicated to "technology", in general, as it happens... plus a few personal insights, thoughts and points of view on the subject -- as I see it.
