When Developers Have Fun

The idea of creating APIs and templates to guide a team in developing an application can be nerve wracking to control freaks. The truth is, you can never stop a developer from bending the rules and doing something beyond the expected, and still get great results. There are developers who stick with the template provided to them, and there are those who brave themselves to explore. And this is where the fun begins.

Web Standards Out of Control

The World Wide Web Consortium ( W3C ) launched an HTML5 logo last January 18, 2011 which caused quite a stir in the web development community. The announcement came with this statement: Now there is a logo for those who have taken up parts of HTML5 into their sites, and for anyone who wishes to tell the world they are using or referring to HTML5, CSS, SVG, WOFF, and other technologies used to build modern Web applications. --  W3C Introduces an HTML5 Logo, W3C.org Two days later, the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) contested that the HTML5 logo program does not replace "HTML" as the official term for the the web design standard and proclaimed instead that  HTML is the new HTML5 . HTML5 Matters: Tomorrow's Web Today

HTML5 is the next major iteration of the HTML standard. HTML5 includes built-in support for rich content presentation and enhanced user experiences. It has built-in support to enhance on-line and off-line application capabilities. It also has a new set of APIs that greatly eases the development of advanced web applications without the need for third-party plug-ins. For web developers, HTML5 is generally an important upgrade for the web since Web 2.0 became mainstream.
