MWC 2018 Is Full Of Promises As Usual

MWC 2018 is happening. There would be some introduction to 5G, applied AI in mobile, and whatever they can attach "mobile" to. Things to come. Things to wait for. It's often what MWC is about: promises and what are promising.

MWC is a powerful event for innovators and investors to discover each other. It's a great event for companies and startups to announce their plans for the future. It gives the mobile industry a positive outlook. Not everything really goes to fruition. But there are many that do and worth getting excited about.

For the most part, MWC is about promises. Now that smartphones are as powerful as computers, mobile devices are already extensions of solutions that would in the past be targeting only computers. Thus, we see more integrations for example with cars, homes, appliances, etc. Modern sensors are also available to provide security, and real-time health monitoring or reporting.

Mobile computers and devices are ubiquitous nowadays. Almost everyone has one. Almost everything can have one. It can be a smartphone, a watch or perhaps something built-in your car. There is a wealth of information that can be gathered from their usage. Thus, AI is expected to be a big topic for speakers and exhibitors this year. Data and information drives the development of AI. It can be something applied behind the scenes or something as visual as robots. We are looking at more applied AIs to be demonstrated and exhibited a lot at MWC this year.

MWC sparks the mobile industry to keep on progressing. There will be many promises. For some, they will stay as promises. For some or most of them, they will materialize. In the same way that CES excites the tech-industry, keeping an eye on MWC every year should be just as important.
