Best Tech of 2010: Cars, SUVs and Hybrids

2010 has been a great year for technology in general affecting various sectors and cultural groups around the world. Here is As I See Tech's rundown of the best technologies for cars, SUVs and hybrids that made remarkable achievements in 2010...

Let me start with this: I really like this review covering many automobile categories. And I like the fact that it focuses on value for money, which I think is the most important. Although, I wonder why Hyundai Sonata is not in the list.

If your priority is safety, Edmunds.com has a comprehensive list of IIHS top safety picks. Oh, and yes, if I may point out, there are Toyota models in the list.

If your priority is fuel economy, take a look at this list from Autotropolis which includes the Audi A3 and the MINI Cooper.

The car that excited my fancy this year is the Lexus LFA which production started December 2010 targeting a 2012 release. Lexus LFA has V10 engine and CFRP body. The materials used and the technologies included in the car are expensive inside and out. Thus, it is listed at a whopping pre-order base price of $375,000!

Reviewing 2010, the biggest news makers are the hybrids and the full electrics like Ford Fusion, Honda CR-Z, Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt. Ford Fusion is a media favorite and passes most reviews with flying colors. Honda CR-Z is a surprising cheaper choice with a base price less than $20,000. Nissan Leaf made waves for announcing a competitive lease pricing vs. the Chevy Volt's which is a plug-in hybrid.

Here's an interesting list of electric cars in 2010 and also what to expect next year. That Tesla Model S is really something to be excited about. If this "green tech" really continues to kick everything up a notch, Tesla is the company to watch over the next couple of years!
