Digg vs. Reddit

Now here's something interesting. You can imagine two competing products to have the same user-base if plotting both in a graph draws a symmetrical pattern: where the rise of one is the fall of the other. Digg and Reddit offer social news services. Digg got in to a lot of trouble in 2010 since they released version 4, criticized by Reddit's Alexis Ohanian to be a victim of VC meddling that departed Digg from its core.

One mistake and Digg seriously lost it. It can be blamed directly to Digg's version 4 which was released last August 2010. As you can see in this graph, the users who left Digg likely switched to Reddit. If this trend continues, Digg will die in 2011 and Reddit will directly benefit.

Let's keep watch on how all these develop early next year. I think, it would be lucky for Digg to even make it up to the middle of next year.
