Holiday List: TVs

In preparation for the holiday season, there are people shortlisting a selection of televisions to buy or upgrade to. The list may include 2D, 3D and Internet TVs. Here's a rundown of some of the popular items to choose from.

2D TV
It's all about 240Hz LED TVs this year. The best choice depend solely on your budget.

Sony Bravia NX800 delivers 240Hz edge LED screen in a beautiful monolithic body design. LG Infinia 55LE8500 and Vizio VF551XVT, on the other hand, offer 240Hz full LED. Sony's Bravia lines can offer the best value for your money -- their edge LED technology works for most people anyway.

3D TV
3D LED TVs are the biggest leap this year on home entertainment... if the 3D glasses don't bother you.

Samsung  UN55C9000 comes in an ultra-slim 0.31" thick brushed titanium colored body. Although neither as slim nor as big, Sony Bravia XBR-52HX909 is competitive and comes at a cheaper price. Both deliver 3D at 240Hz.

LG Infinia 55LX9500 and Vizio XVT3D554SV, on the other hand, scream with a 480Hz.

Note that, 2D or 3D, Vizio's lines could actually offer the best value for your money. On a personal note, 3D TVs are not really recommend until they get rid of the 3D glasses. However, if you are a serious gamer, you might want to highly consider getting the 3D experience.

Internet TV
Most 2D and 3D TVs mentioned above include built-in Internet TV applications. In fact, Sony manufactures the controversial Google TV. However, for those who just want to add Internet TV to their existing TV, there's Roku XDS, Logitech Revue and Boxee Box by D-Link to choose from.

That's it. There are technologies you can immediately get now and there are some to wait for. The best choice depends on your lifestyle and on your budget. Try out these TVs in stores before you buy. Remember, there may be cheap deals on-line so don't forget to check out the Store.
